Our youth live in truth

NaturalView’s mission is helping people reconcile religion and reality.

We provide information and resources for people suffering from religious trauma and cognitive dissonance. NaturalView encourages a personal assessment of childhood assumptions, and the subsequent growth of a more realistic worldview.

Help support a more truthful journey as we approach the challenges of a world dealing with overpopulation, climate change, and the recurrence of religious wars. Understanding the history of religion helps us gain perspective, while the scientific method gives us a common tool to discern truth. Science and evolution don’t work against our spiritual growth–they are the language of the infinite.

Your donation, recurring membership, or legacy gift helps us spread the word!

Cheri Roloff

Cofounder

Executive Director

Raised in the Christian faith, Cheri came to her current beliefs at the young age of 13, when her youth pastor couldn’t reconcile the idea of god’s will versus free will. Using her training in Marketing and Event Planning, she has had the opportunity to help several non-profits, being a founding member of five and sitting on the boards of seven.

Alex von Allmen

Cofounder

Marketing Director

When Alex was an active member of a large church in Sacramento, he sat on the floor of a bookstore with works of religion, philosophy, and science. First fearing that God might strike him down, he realized that any caring creator would welcome a mind seeking the truth. Alex has an advanced business degree from Northwestern.

John Rainbolt

Content Director

John grew up in a devoted Baptist minister’s home, but he had a natural fascination for science that led to research in co-evolution. John uses timelines and current events to study the history of society and the explosion of science. This helps us develop a worldview that respects what we are and where we’ve come from, while still growing as we learn.

                                        Meet Paul

“Throughout his life Paul has grown through his curiosity, independence, and commitment to understanding the world through evidence and reason.”

Paul Storey is the founding benefactor of NaturalView. He was born in Seattle to a family that valued faith and education. His father was an executive at Boeing, and his parents raised four children in a structured religious environment. Paul attended a leading Catholic school. However, even as a young student he showed a strong independent streak and a deep curiosity about the natural world.

Paul continued attending church with his family, but he increasingly questioned religious doctrine. At age sixteen Paul asked his parents for permission to stop attending church. Paul left the parochial system to attend public school. This is when his cognitive dissonance with religion, and his interests in science, led to his reason based view of the world. Despite their philosophical disagreements, Paul maintained a deep relationship with his father, and they engaged in thoughtful debates about religion.

Paul joined the chess team and spent countless hours building science projects, like an anti-gravity globe and a Tesla coil. These early experiments reflected a growing fascination with physics, electronics, and the principles that govern the universe. Paul attended the University of Washington in pre-med. This is where he encountered the scientific foundations of evolution, which forever shaped his opinions about reality.

While his interests ultimately led him away from medicine, the rigorous scientific training reinforced his commitment to evidence-based thinking. He went on to a long and successful career as an electronics engineer. His professional work reflected the same curiosity and problem-solving mindset that had defined his early passions. Paul also maintained his commitment to physical fitness and endurance sports–participating  in triathlon events over many years.

Paul became deeply involved in the freethought community. He served as President of AOF in Sacramento and co-founded Sac FAN. He has also been a longtime supporter of FreeThought Day, helping promote public dialogue about secular values, science, and reason. Paul co-founded NaturalView in 2021 with his friends Alex von Allmen, Cheri Roloff, and David Flanders. NaturalView is an educational non-profit dedicated to helping people reconcile religion with reality.

Recent studies suggest that millions of people experience religious trauma or cognitive dissonance related to faith traditions. Paul sees NaturalView as a constructive response to this reality. It is designed to help thoughtful people explore difficult questions, work through inherited beliefs, and engage with science and reason in a respectful community. Through NaturalView, Paul has helped bring together influential voices, and created focused video content, to make thoughtful ideas accessible to a wider audience.

The Paul Storey Scholarship

2026 is the inaugural year for The Paul Storey Scholarship. This award was created to help young people develop their reason-based skills and prepare for a life of social impact. By helping critical and free thinkers with their formal training, Paul’s legacy of education, reason, and hard work can extend to future generations. For information regarding scholarship timing, criteria, and the application process please email our team at info@naturalview.org. Your financial support for the scholarship fund is greatly appreciated.

The 2026 Paul Storey Scholarship recipient is Nate Harris. Nate is graduating from Bella Vista High School and will be attending Sacramento State University in Political Science and Economics. An exemplary student, Nate has taken enough AP courses to start as a sophomore. He’s won medals for the highest performance at his school in Government and Drama, and 1st and 2nd place honors for script writing at the San Juan Theater Festival.  Nate wants to work as a legislative aid at the Capital, and hopes to pursue a career in business.
